Assistant/Trainee Buyer, Procurement

Middlesex Group Limited currently has an opening for an Assistant/Trainee Buyer to join the Procurement department, reporting to the Procurement Manager. This is an exciting opening to join an expanding aerospace manufacturing company. Middlesex Group Limited, operate in a commercially driven environment, with particular emphasis on supplier development and effective negotiation. You will be working with a highly skilled and motivated team that is keen on developing best practice purchasing techniques and supply chain philosophies.

 

Role:   

  • Support the Procurement team in the development of product category strategies by undertaking market analysis and research.
  • Assist the team in data collection on supplier performance.
  • Collate Request for Quotation (RFQ) responses and complete costing sheets.
  • Support buyers in the critical path management of NPI for new tenders managed by the procurement team.
  • Manage supplier Invoice Queries and resolve in agreed timescales.
  • Understand and deliver to stakeholder requirements.
  • Support buyers in collation of reports for suppliers.
  • Support in undertaking due diligence of suppliers and ensure that new suppliers are recorded and registered on business systems and Quality dept notified for approval and IAQG watchlist monitoring.
  • Work with colleagues across the business to analyse demand and assist in the specification of goods and services to be supplied.
  • Develop and maintain a supplier database to strengthen the procurement
  • Liaise with suppliers on quality problems in conjunction with the Quality team to ensure required quality standards are met.
  • Maintain reference files for all bought components and related suppliers.
  • Identify and monitor procurement across the business to assist the development of a long-term approach to procurement to deliver savings, efficiency, value for money, quality standards and targets, environmental standards and improved capability.
  • Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good
  • Ensure compliance to company guidelines and to purchasing policies and procedures during supplier negotiations and contracts.
  • Report on procurement key performance indicators (KPIs)

 In particular the role will include:

 Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders within the team and provide full supply chain support for any identified project activities / requirements.

  • Effective management of a positive and collaborative supplier relationship in order to increase the value gained from the partnership.
  • Report status and project metrics to Procurement Manager
  • Travelling to suppliers’ facilities when required.
